CRCB12 when run will ask for a catalogue number this can be any 3
digit number. It will then calculate the crc values for each file on the disk
and write these to a file called -CATALOG.NNN where NNN is the number you
provided.
CRC67 can then be ruan at any time to see if any of the files have changed.
When run CRC67 looks for various filenames for the list of crc figures so
don't worry when it report 4 lines failed Parse test this just means it
could not find the other possible names for the crc files. The Important
thing is that it should report a match for each file. If it does not then
you know something has changed in that file since the original crc file
was created.
Warnings:-
CRCB12 will only work properly with up to 99 files if the disk directory
you are working with has more than that then the files after 99 will
not be displayed properly. We regularly use CRCB12 and CRC67 for cataloguing
library disks as it will detect any kind of file corruption.
There are other CRC check programs around but these are not always compatible
with each other and may report mismatchs which do not exist.
We hope these programs and the others on this disk will provide you
with protection in the unlikely event that you should run into a
"Trojan" type program.
